WELCOME MESSAGE FROM PRESIDENT OF MYANMAR SOCIETY OF HAEMATOLOGY

Welcome Message for the 7th Biennial Conference of Myanmar Society of Haematology & Pre-Conference ISTH Education Symposium on Thrombosis and Haemostasis

Dear Colleagues,
It is our pleasure to announce that the Myanmar Society of Haematology (MSH) is organizing the 7th Biennial Conference to be held at the Sule Shangri-La Hotel, Yangon, Myanmar, on September 21-22, 2019, preceded by a special Education Symposium supported by the International Society of Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ISTH), on September 20, 2019.

As a specialist society under Myanmar Medical Association, the Myanmar Society of Haematology was first established in 2003 by combined effort of haematologists, pathologists, physicians, pediatricians and research scientists who are interested in Haematology. Since the second conference in 2009, international speakers have been invited to educate and update Haematology not only for the haematologists, but also for local doctors, trainees and other medical professionals involving in haematology patients care.

Haematology has long been regarded as a cutting edge of medicine with several super-specialities. Nowadays, with rapidly advancing science and technologies, there are many global and regional meetings providing the latest and the most advanced knowledge in various specialized fields of Haematology. However, there are still unmet needs on educational meetings for non-experts and general audience who could not attend such international conferences. Therefore, this 7th Conference of Myanmar Society of Haematology is dedicated to provide continuing education and updated knowledge of haematology relevant to the local and regional setting.

Unlike previous meetings, this conference has a unique feature of having a special pre-conference Education Symposium on Thrombosis and Haematostasis with support from ISTH where one could learn emerging therapies and changing practice related to Thrombosis and Haemostasis.

While education program targeting local doctors, trainees and haematologists from South East Asia region, we would also like to take this opportunity to invite our colleagues from neighboring countries to visit us and experience our rich culture, beautiful scenery and warm hospitality without extra-time by attending this conference at the heart of Yangon, with a complementary guided tour to the Great Shwedagon Pagoda and Gala Dinner at the Karaweik Palace Restaurant with Royal Cultural Show.

We sincerely hope that this conference would be highly educational as well as truly enjoyable.

Yours sincerely

Aye Aye Gyi, MBBS, MMedSc, DrMedSc, FRCP President, Myanmar Society of Haematology.
